Painfully honest lyrics, angelic vocals, brooding guitars and power pop production combine to create Athena Joy's unique and heartfelt spin on the indie/dark pop genre. Hailing from Australia's Gold Coast/Brisbane region, Athena captivates with a subtle sweetness and an emotional, moody edge.
Her debut EP made waves back in 2018 through stellar online reviews and premieres from online blogs such as Pilerats, Happy Mag and Plastic Mag in the UK, as well as receiving radio play from indie music lovers at 4ZZZ, triple J Unearthed as well as numerous online and college radio stations.
This in combination with Queensland and Gold Coast music award nominations, Athena Joy has showcased at local festivals as well performing along the East Coast, including at much loved venues The Zoo and Nightquarter.
Inspired by the likes of Kate Bush, Florence and the Machine and Halsey, fans are also drawn to Athena Joy's soaring voice and force of nature songwriting.
